Basic Information:
When will we be notified of our child's teacher, classroom and conference time?
You will receive a letter before school starts with your teacher's name and your scheduled conference time. Kindergartners have scheduled conferences on the first two days of the school year.

Is there a breakfast and lunch program for Kindergarten students?
Yes, breakfast is available for AM Kindergarteners for a fee. Families should sign-up for the breakfast program with food services. Lunch is available for all-day kindergarten students.

Transportation:
Can my child ride the bus?
Students who live at least .6 miles away from school are bussed. An adult must meet kindergartners at the bus stop daily.

What bus will my child ride?
Families whose children are enrolled before August will receive bus stop and route information in the mail prior to the start of school. For bus questions contact the transportation office at 952-591-1538 or visit the district's bus info page.

Childcare:
Do you offer before and after school childcare?
Yes, we offer both. You may contact Community Education about our Kid's Place program at 952-928-6764. Click here to view more info on childcare options.

Screening:
Does my child need Early Childhood Screening?
Yes, Early Childhood Screening is a Minnesota state-sponsored screening that is required by law for all children before they enter Kindergarten. This screening is not the same as a physical done by the doctor. This screening is also not the same as the Kindergarten Assessment done by the school district. Call (952) 928-6726 to schedule a screening appointment for your preschooler.

Does my child need a Kindergarten Assessment?
Yes, all Kindergarten students need a St. Louis Park Public Schools Kindergarten Assessment. Parents should sign up for Kindergarten Assessment at Kindergarten Roundup, March 24th.

Immunizations:
Will my child need immunizations before they start school?
All incoming Kindergarten students must have the required immunizations before starting school. Free medical care, including immunizations, is available at Central Clinic located in our Central Community Center. The Clinic is open Tuesdays and Wednesdays 1:00-4:30 p.m. Call 952-993-1100 to schedule an appointment or contact your family doctor to get the immunization verification documents.

Enrollment:
How do I enroll my child?
Children will receive a mailing in early March containing registration information and the forms necessary for enrollment. If you have enrollment questions, you may call the District Office at 952-928-6000.

What is Kindergarten Roundup/Registration and when is it held?
Kindergarten Roundup/Registration will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2009, from 6:00-7:30 p.m. Please bring your child's birth certificate, up-to-date immunization records, and early childhood screening information.

This evening is an opportunity for parents and incoming Kindergarteners to get an overview of the Kindergarten program at each school. During a parent presentation, incoming students experience a mini kindergarten day with one of the kindergarten teachers. Following the presentation, parents pick up their children and may visit with the teachers.

Will there be volunteer opportunities in my child's classroom?
Yes, school and classroom volunteers are welcomed and encouraged.
